The pond sees some action...

Glancing out the window a few minutes ago, I caught of glimpse of the deer out back. There were nine of them. We haven't seen them in several days. Too much change happening for them, we think. We saw them last on Saturday, most likely their first encounter with the new water feature. Some of the smaller deer were really confused by the movement of the water coursing down the waterfall. We realized that they had probably never seen water like that before since they aren't a year old yet and there isn't much running water around here. They would move forward as if to drink but then jump back. This went on for a time before they were brave enough to actually get their mouths to the water.

Guess they aren't so shy anymore! Tonight they made themselves right at home. They also had to investigate the piles of dirt and gravel that were left from the work that was completed yesterday. They like to climb up to the top and take a look around. Such curious creatures. Good thing we are so tolerant! We are going to be challenged to come up with things to plant that they won't munch down to the ground. Any ideas out there?
