A Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Things are pretty quiet here at Tramp's Camp today. We had planned a long trip for the holiday but that was dashed by poor Tramp 1's back issues. While he is doing a bit better - (in his own words - he can put on his own socks now!) the long car trip would be very bad for him. We were planning to surprise his family in NW Washington state and were so looking forward to it. So instead, we are deep in the midst of plan B. We have a turkey roasting in the oven - I insisted on no BBQ, no smoker, no deep fryer, no brining, no injecting - just a nice plain roasted bird. The side dishes are ready to pop back into the oven to reheat them - garlic mashed potatoes with cream cheese, cornbread dressing, brusselsprouts with bacon and mushrooms. We are also having shrimp salad and of course, cranberry jell. The pain management Dr. we met with yesterday gave Tramp 1 the go ahead to imbibe a wee bit, so we will be having wine, too. Not the one I wanted - I grabbed the wrong bottle at the store in haste - it was to be a Beaujolais - Nouveau and I got a Beaujolais-Villages. We will drink it anyway!! Right now we are sipping on a Paul Cheneau Spanish sparking wine (champagne by any other name) that we were supposed to have with breakfast but I chilled it so well that it was frozen and we had to wait for it to thaw!! As soon as the turkey hits 180 degrees, we are packing everything up and heading out for a picnic somewhere.
