The competition BBQ season will be starting soon. And we are getting ready here. That means that we are enjoying some very tasty BBQ meats.
When we judge at a BBQ competition, we have to taste a lot of food. Taste is the operative word here. If you ate each piece, you would be stuffed by the time you were done. So we just take a couple of bites of whatever meat we are sampling. That is why there are two bites out of each of the ribs above. Because we keep everything we taste, we end up with lots of meat to take home. We label it and freeze it to enjoy in the winter when the snow flies and we don't necessarily want to go outside and cook. We reheated these ribs in the oven - and oh, the wonderful smoky aroma that filled the kitchen - yumm! Almost as good as being there - almost...
As we enjoyed these tasty ribs, we thought of all the really wonderful friends we have made through our love of BBQ. Soon we will all be meeting up again at a BBQ competition somewhere and will catch up on what we all have done during the downtime. And we will be back judging again and enjoying some really great BBQ fare!

Hmmmm, don't think I would have had the will power to leave even a scrap of meat on those bones!!! LOL Yummmmmm
So how in the world do you become a BBQ judge? (Never seen that on anyone's resume! ;o})
To become a BBQ judge, you need to take a class from a BBQ organization - we are with the Pacific Northwest Barbecue Association. When you start judging events, you will advance in your status from beginner to junior judge, then senior on up to master.
How interesting! There sure a lot of things that I don't know anything about!

The ribs look delicious and I'm glad that you take the bitten ones home. My dog Murphy wants to know if Chukar gets thrown the occasional rib bone. If so, don't be surprised if he shows up at your doorstep, doggy suitcase in paw.
No, Chucky doesn't get "people" food. But he would sure like to play with Murphy!
