Looking west at Broken Top and The Three Sisters in the Oregon Cascades Feb. 2016

“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.” -

Nearing the end of 2010...

Well, this is it - the last evening of 2010. I never know where I will be on this night until late in December. Tramp 1 has to work on New Year's Eve and we have to travel. So I am sitting here in a hotel room waiting for him to call me when he is done - he is an auditor and has to observe year end inventory counts and do a sample audit as well. Sometimes he can work late into the night - we just never know what will happen. So in the meantime, I wait. (And on Monday he will start driving again - yippee!!)

There were so many things I had planned to post tonight. But after an incredibly long and slow drive over the snow laden Cascade mountains and the onslaught of large city traffic, I have forgotten most of it. And after having to change rooms here after some technical issues with the TV in the first room and having maintenance come replace the clock radio, which did not work in the second room, I remember even less. Then I drove to Trader Joe's to shop for some snacks where I was totally overwhelmed by all the humanity there. So many of them appeared fraught with indecision and others were downright rude. Were it not for the great employees and the good food, I could have abandoned my quest there in favor of a Safeway or Fred Meyer store. While I may be jaded, I have found quite a few city folk to be more self-absorbed than their country cousins. I imagine it is an innate defense mechanism to protect themselves from all the hustle and bustle that urban dwelling pushes at one. Let's just say there weren't many folks sharing greetings and smiles with each other...

Looking backwards, Christmas was good - Tramp 1 was able to travel, so we joined the throngs on the highways and made our way through the snow to be with family. It was a good trip but I am getting pretty tired from all this driving. I have been on the road for some 3000 miles in the last month and to use a phrase from a dear great uncle, I am butt sprung! Tramp 1 is doing well with physical therapy and almost seems to be starting to accept not doing some of the chores like chopping wood and shoveling snow. And that is very good - we don't want to go through this again for awhile...

Sending heartfelt wishes to all of you, wherever you might dwell, for good health and happiness in 2011.

Happy New Year back at ya...and oh how I LOVE Trader Joe's. Going there hopefully Jan 4. I don't have one here where I am but I manage to get to one sooner or later.
I am so happy that Tramp 1 is healing, now that is fantastic news!
