A taste of winter....

Yes, it is snowing here at Tramp's Camp. We had some flakes flying yesterday but this morning it has been snowing for a couple of hours now. Not sticking too much but still, snowing! Yesterday we did some work in the garden, harvesting the rest of the Roma tomatoes. We just clip the vines and put them in a large box with the tomatoes still attached. That way they ripen as the vines wither away. We also wrapped the dog kennel with the six upside down tomato plants in clear plastic and covered it on top, too, creating a rustic greenhouse. Hopefully the plants will make it through this cold snap and be able to keep producing when it warms up later in the week.

Timing is everything around here. We have a crew of roofers scheduled to be here tomorrow to start tearing off all the roofing on our house and our shop. We need to call the contractor tonight and remind him that we will be having frost in the morning and it will take awhile for it to melt off enough to make climbing on the steep pitch safe.

Yesterday we also worked on cleaning out the garage. It is one of those chores that is best shared, I think! We need to defrost the freezer and it just seems that each project leads to another... Not too smart to be defrosting the freezer on a day when it is snowing but we need to get it done. Our freezer inventory is in need of updating and we need to get it all straightened out - pork with pork, beef with beef, etc. When we needed a break from the garage work, we went out back and stacked firewood - there is plenty of that to do here but today we will probably work indoors.

I need to get breakfast cooking. Am going to make biscuits and sausage gravy - a favorite for Tramp 1. We have the wood cook stove all fired up, so I will use that great heat to do my cooking. He will need a nice hot breakfast before we head back out to the garage to tackle that freezer!

There is never an end to work around home. You are right - one thing always leads to another. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and allow you to get things done before it gets too cold. Yum. The biscuits and gravy breakfast sounds good.

Rae,

The weather is improving now and the roofers have started. Am glad I was home to remove a few things from the walls that were really shaking with all the banging.

We did get the freezer defrosted and made a new content list. A big job when the freezer is so full - we are grateful to have it that way, too!

Thanks for visiting.

We caught some snow on our trip, but luckily missed the brunt of it. I heard some areas of Oregon, etc got NAILED with it.
I'm actually looking forward to sorting my freezer......it's good to be back home and get "hunkered in" before the weather hits for good!

Sue,

Glad you are back okay. Yes, we had a good amount of snow but it melted away in a day.

Our freezer job was good but we didn't find any extra space... I need to quit shopping the sales for awhile or we need to get another freezer!
