A Sign of Spring -

Around Tramp's Camp we know that spring is on the fast track to move in when we start hearing the annual frog mating songs. It seems like they started earlier this year, probably because it was the first year that we had our water feature running year round.

We have been sleeping with our window cracked open at night to get the full benefit of their nightly concerts. If they stop suddenly for some reason, it actually wakes me up!

The round blobs floating in the algae and water are the balls of eggs the frogs laid early last week.

In this closeup shot you can already see the little tadpoles forming. It won't be long before the pond is home to a bunch of the little ones trying so hard to survive long enough to grow their legs.
