“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.” -

Wild Horses

Today I took Tramp 1 out for a drive. He needed a change of scenery - you know how that can help with one's perspective on life. He is feeling really bad that he can't be at work.

We headed to the mountains to see how things look now that spring is here. It was raining when we started out and snowing when we got there. But it didn't snow all the time and we had the great fortune to find a couple of groups of wild horses in the Ochoco National Forest.

Wish this photo could have been closer. It shows a mare and her foal (lighter colored horses on the right) along with a group of other horses. We sat and watched the little fellow nurse and they all seemed pretty relaxed but we did not turn off our vehicle or open the doors.

While driving in another area of the forest we ran across this group. They were very calm and simply stood and watched us. We were pretty excited!

This stallion seemed very curious about us and we were rewarded with a close view of him. We are in awe of these horses and will be going back again to look for them when the weather is better.

Nothing like a close encounter with Ma Nature to bring things into focus a bit!

Very nice pictures! Thanks for sharing them with us, my friend!

That happened to us on the Moors! It's such a delight to see that some of our domestic animals can survive on their own. These guys are magnificent.

When I was a kid I dreamed about running away to Wild Horse Canyon and finding a horse of my own. The closest I got was a small herd of horses that got away from the rental stable along the Los Angeles River walking past our house. I begged my dad to get one and hide it in the garage. At five, I just couldn't understand why he didn't think it was a good idea. - Margy
