Yes, he has been finding quite a few tools. Including MY old screwdrivers. Very sad - only one of the orange handled set my dear old Dad gave me when we got married has been discovered so far. Note it is resting on handles of the special set with the good grips and magnetic tips that I bought myself years ago. Yup - got him - thief!!
It is really cold here today with blustery wind. The high is only in the 30's and we will be around 15 degrees tonight. Yesterday it was 60! We went to bed with the window open, listening to the waterfall and wind. At 4:15 AM we woke to the sound of snow pelting the window, which we closed very quickly.
Somehow the lizards around here think Spring is actually here. This fellow and a buddy that was too shy for a picture were warming themselves in the occasional ray of sun in front of the shop.

We're having some tool wars too. Hubby keeps accusing me of 'hiding' his tools. Sigh... All I do is PUT THEM AWAY. guess he doesn't get the concept. ;)
we also have lots of lizzards, though its pretty warm here. Gonna be cooler tonite and tomorrow night, but I think we'll be close enough to in the clear after that to start planting more stuff. :)
You have to get seriously possessive. There's a rubber 'paint' that you can get to dip your tool handles in, and it comes in pink. That should let him know what's whose. Well worth the trouble, believe me.
Sharlene that's so funny! I've been painting all my garden tools pink this past month, so I could find them. I did notice though, that given the choice between two similar tools the males in the house will not touch the pink ones. ;)
I've given Sweetie the same suggestions many times. Last fall he did set up an old piece of counter on sawhorses and do as your picture shows. Wish our digital camera were working because the counter is now another junk pile that he occasionally digs through when he's looking for something. Took me half an hour to find a hammer yesterday be cause he had "somehow" lost the hammer I keep in the entry on top of MY tool box!
I was consulting at a business with a major repair shop. The men were forever losing/misplacing their tools and 'borrowing' someone else's. Once I explained how this now tied up two or even three employees who were not producing while hunting for lost tools, he turned me loose for a solution. I bought them each a locking toolbox, bought the dipping stuff and brought in my acrylic paints. Everyone got to choose their color. From that point forward, never had another problem. You knew exactly who was using what tool and where it belonged! And, no, pink was not a chosen color...
It is amazing what you find when you start "organzing" eh? Same here...after un-packing you say out loud..."Oh here is what I have been looking for like forever...now to put it where I can find it...eh right!
Luck to you on you quest for locating all your tools.
Glad you are making a bit of progress on the tool front! Seems to be a war in many households!
Lucky for me, the cats leave my tools alone for the most part. Good thing too, since they are both males and spraying is the best way they have with marking their possessions!
