Easter Treats...

So many of you are enjoying such wonderful Easter meals today. One friend of ours is cooking a turkey and has family coming over the mountains. Another is baking a ham and staying home. Others are gathering with various friends and family to share a holiday meal. Seems that ham, turkey, pork roast or lamb are the major contenders for the protein aspect of Easter dinner. And doesn't everyone remember some favorite dessert that their Mom or Grandmother used to make for this day?

Here at Tramp's Camp, the special Easter treats are all just for good old Tramp #1. He is the man of the day, the reason I am preparing this very special menu. I have gone to great lengths to color coordinate his meal and increase palatability. It's all about the flavor, isn't it? About how we savor good tastes, letting the salty, sweet or spicy flavors burst forth as they tumble over our taste buds.

The theme for today is citrus. Lot's of lemon and lime, with a touch of tannins from tea and the saltiness of chicken and beef. Citrus lends itself to so many creations, from main dish to dessert.

Today, Tramp #1 is prepping for a colonoscopy and endoscopy tomorrow. The menu for him is pictured below. He will be retiring shortly to spend the next many "liquid" hours in his "man cave" where he plans to sort his tools and such and be sequestered in his personal bathroom. I have created some ambiance for him with a nice scented candle and reading material near his "throne".

Now, for my Easter dining adventures, I will be enjoying things he doesn't like so he won't feel left out. That means I can have a meal of, oh, maybe some brussels sprouts, rutabagas and sweet potatoes. Sounds just yummy! Honestly, when he is over in the shop at a stage where I know he cannot make the sprint up to the house anymore, I will be sneaking some kind of meat onto my plate, too! I think there is some pulled pork in the freezer...
Happy Easter to all!!!

Poor Tramp #1. That is a heck of an Easter diet. He'll have to have his Easter feast a few days late. Happy Easter to both of you.
