All done and sleeping it off...

After more than two hours of waiting and wondering, the surgeon came out to see me. Everything went well and if memory serves, the rotator cuff was okay. A bursa had burst and calcium had leaked into a large area and a ligament had some damage. He did have to make an incision to get to the worst of it. He said it all went well and Tramp 1 should be able to resume some of the activities he loves in the fall of this year.

I left Tramp 1 in the capable hands of the nurses and am back home for a few hours to get some things done. I will head back to the hospital to spend more time with him when he is better rested. And I am so, so very grateful that those wonderful folks at the hospital chose the vocations they did and are there to provide the great care that they do. A shout out of thanks to all of you who work in the medical profession in any capacity!

Thank you to everyone for your caring and concern. It is much appreciated!

Good news, sounds like things should go well.

My daughter is a neonatal intensive care nurse and I share your opinion of those in the medical world.

Everytime I think of her caring for those tiny infants one breath away from death, I think people who do that kind of work must feel a calling, otherwise, why would you even think about a job like that.

Maybe Tramp 1 will need a diversion this summer...like maybe a puppy?

I'm glad Tramp 1 is doing well. I hope his recovery goes smoothly. Just please be sure to nag him for any exercises that he is prescribed down the road! Take it from an OT... It's really important.
Please be sure to take care of yourself as well and don't overdo it.

Everything sounds better than was expected...yes, I agree ...YIPPEE for western medicine and the care givers...we sometimes don't appreciate it until you need it...

I'm so glad everything went well. Yes, he must follow his exercises. And, of course, you must get your rest, as well. Caretaking can sometimes be more exhausting than the being ill!

So glad all went well!! Best to Tramp 1. And yes, the aftercare is going to be very important.
Take care of YOU, too!!

I am so glad it went well! My brother had shoulder surgery years ago and he is a professional painter--and is doing fine- so there's some encouragement for him. Painters use that more than anyone I can think of.

Good to hear Tramp 1 is all done with his surgery and is recovering well. It's good to get it taken care of now so he can enjoy doing the things he likes without pain. We are heading to Seattle next week for Wayne to have eye surgery, something he's been wanting to do for a long time. It is amazing what can be done these days to make life better. - Margy

My friend, I'm so glad to hear that all went well, but may I make a suggestion? Don't forget to take a bit of time for your own rest and well being during this trying time.

We want you full of vim and vinegar, if you know what I mean!
