My morning brew and The Deadliest Catch

I was up at 5:00 AM this morning - and that was after making myself go back to sleep several times. I started a fire in the old wood cook stove and set the kettle on to boil. And I took the wee little french press I just bought with birthday money I had been saving for months out of the box and washed it up. Now I can brew my own cup of coffee if Tramp 1 is still sleeping because I rise so darned early - and then I can make the full size french press when he wakes up so he gets fresh coffee, too.

Currently I am drinking a very special blend from Captain Phil Harris of The Deadliest Catch. It is called Midnight Sunrise/Italian Roast. Maybe that is why I can't sleep?!! We had the good fortune to meet Captain Phil last year. He was so darned nice, too! The java was originally labeled at "The Deadliest Brew" with pictures from all the gang on the Cornelia Marie. Now it is called Captain's Reserve Gourmet Coffee and has his picture on the bags. We are big fans of the show and are looking forward to start of the next season. If you want to try some of Phil's coffee and can't find it in a store near you, it is available at http://www.captainsbrew.com/

Now you just know that I hve to try some of this stuff! After all, I'm sorta like the local coffee maniac!

Thanks for the heads up on the new coffee, my friend!

Sounds so nice! I'm opening up a package of gourmet coffee tomorrow. Its been down in my pantry a little while. I got it on sale w/ coupons of course. I had about half a dozen different coffees to choose from when I went down to the pantry this morning--thought this new 'gourmet' one would be fun. I'm not very invested in coffee equipment, but I too, like a bit of a treat sometimes. :-)

You ARE an early riser. I used to work on a fishing boat and there is something about fishermen, they make really strong coffee.

Haven't heard of that kind of coffee but would like to try it. I enjoy coffee but have to be careful not to drink it too late in the day or I will not sleep at all. There is something about the smell of it in the morning, Ahh!

Lately Wayne and I've been making hot cocoa when we can't get to sleep at night. Maybe it's the milk or the warmth, but it seems to help us nod off. We have coffee only in the morning, but nothing fancy, just a medium roast with double cream. - Margy
