Augtember??

Okay, you know I didn't like August - it was long and hot.  So what happened to September?  We are having "Augtember" here.  It has been hot - unseemly weather for this time of year here.  It was 92 yesterday - crazy weather - it is going to be hot for several more days.

Living in the high desert provides one with extreme swings in temperature.  We had two nights last week in the low 20's.  Luckily I was able to protect the garden and things are still growing well.  I guess that is one thing good about having "Augtember".

These are my bean tee pees all wrapped up in a car cover - it worked well.  We do just about anything to extend the growing season around here!

This doe has been bringing her twin fawns around to enjoy a drink from our pond.  They like to bed down in the backyard in the afternoon.  Luckily, they usually come by when Chucky is inside enjoying his afternoon siesta.

Along with our hot weather, we have a huge fire going on here.  It has been growing for ten days and is now at 24,000 acres and with only 40 percent containment.  Many days are all smoke here and being indoors is the best thing.  We had ash coming down like light snow a couple of times.  This is our third big fire in the area this summer, along with many smaller fires.  It has been such a tough fire year throughout the west.  We need rain - rain without lightning.  And lightning is in the forecast for Friday and Saturday.

We are enjoying Augtember here on the coast with temps in the mid-70s. I hate to hear about fires. Hopefully when the rain does come it won't be with thunder and lightening. - Margy

Augtember, what a great idea. We actually had a fairly cool August (that's relative of course), and September is almost more like October. I am not complaining! Love your bean tee pees too. Another great idea.
