I took my Mom there two weeks ago.
We were too early.
Only a small number of the birds had arrived.
We saw a flock circling far above us
looking like little specks in the sky.
They are big birds - very big - some 4 feet tall with a wingspan up to 5 feet.
About a million of them show up each year.
We enjoyed exploring parts of the refuge.

It certainly looks very beautiful. A million cranes, we don't see them at all here, doesn't sound a fair balance to me!!!! Xxx
We went through NE again on our way home---still no cranes. This has been the oddest year......
What a majestic bird! The weather is sure playing tricks this year.

They are awesome birds. We have a wetlands area here that the cranes visit. I love to see them. Very majestic appearing birds.
Sorry to be so late to comment on your post about Chucky. So glad to hear he is doing okay. What a wonderful addition to your life. It was the perfect match.
A million cranes...must certainly be a sight to see.
That's a big bird. Must be impressive when they all arrive. - Margy
