Christmas Lights, for Us and Others

Darkness is falling at Tramp's Camp. The brightly colored Christmas lights on a juniper tree in our back yard are twinkling with their frosty coating of new snow. We also have blue green rope lights woven through the wrought iron railings of our side deck and clear round bulbs on a potted pine tree on our back deck. Out front, the eves and gutters of the house are lined in colored lights and two dead junipers are outlined in 300 little white lights. There is a big lighted wreath on the wall outside my kitchen window and two strings of icicle lights in blue and clear hanging from roof line about the wreath. Clear and blue lighted snowflakes a foot across are twinkling in the peaked window above the doors that lead to our side deck. Everything is on timers so we can enjoy the lights without having to remember to turn them on. We have them come on very early in the morning to greet the woman that delivers our newspaper up at the road at the end of our driveway. Last year she left us a nice note about our lights and how she would be sad when they were shut off after the holidays. She said they were a warm and welcome beacon at the top of the hill and the end of the road in the wintry darkness. So we decided to do something about that and we wrapped multiple strings of little clear lights around a tall juniper that we keep on all year round for her! We are so fortunate that she faithfully delivers our paper clear out here in the country, day in and day out, weather or not.
