Spring - I missed the first few days of SPRING! And it was actually very nice weather, too.
I have been having a knee issue for several weeks and made an appointment with the orthopedic doctor. But on Saturday while climbing up into our big truck, something happened - snap, pop and PAIN. So Tramp 1 grabbed an ice pack for me and we headed to town. We took some furniture to the resale store and then headed to the ortho urgent care. By then I could not walk, even with my cane. So I had my first real wheelchair ride. Then x-rays and a cortisone injection. Got a really nice brace, too... And we picked up a load of organic compost on our way home! Yesterday we met with the orthopedic doctor as scheduled and I had more x-rays. The injection has sure helped but it is a wait and see type of thing now. I have to start walking without the cane soon and find out how it goes. Am hoping that all will be well soon! The garden isn't calling me, it is screaming for me!!!
What would I do without Tramp 1??!! On Sunday he unloaded a yard of compost and tilled it into our raised beds. He made it look so easy, too! Now they are all ready to be planted.
He side dressed the rhubarb plants that are growing with a vengeance.
He even baked a lovely pear crumb pie - and he did a couple loads of laundry, too! This week he is working from home - he was supposed to be traveling for work but stayed home to take care of me and Chucky. What a guy!!
For the moment I will have to be content with indoor gardening. This crazy cactus is blooming at the wrong time. At least part of it is - the rest of it bloomed in November. Go figure!

Wow, sorry to hear about the bum leg and it's just at the worst possible time with all of the springtime yard work to be done. Hope it heals up sooner than later.
Christmas Cactus are crazy! Mine bloomed for Valentines Day!!!!!
I just call mine a "holiday cactus" bc it always seems to bloom near SOME holiday or other! So sorry to hear about your knee. That is LITERALLY (and figuratively) such a pain. Hope you're up hopping about soon.
Yikes, so sorry to hear about your knee. I hope you'll be up and running around soon. :-)
Sorry to hear about your knee. Hope it gets better soon. It's hard to be held back I know. I had a few days break in the weather and got some manure dug into the floating garden and pots. Your rhubarb has mine beat. I uncovered it (I mulch it over the winter with newspaper and extra dirt) and saw a few tiny leaves sprouting. At least I know it survived the winter again. I don't get much because mine is in a pot, but what I get, I enjoy. - Margy
I hope that your knee heals up quickly. The hard part is staying off of it when you've got a million things to do outside. Be strong -- sit down! Oh, and I love your raised planters. They are beautiful!
