My drive back to Oregon was a long one due to a detour around this fire on Satus Pass in Washington. I took some back roads to avoid the truck traffic on the main detour route. The fire was burning heavily and is still just 60 percent contained with over 1300 people working on it.
On my way I stopped by the air tanker base in our area to see what planes were there. I was very surprised to find six of them sitting on the tarmac. We don't usually have that many in at one time. On the late news last night they said they have them here to be ready due to the red flag weather situation. I sure do hope that no fires start and these planes can stay parked!!
Number 42 is in from British Columbia, Canada. The 45 and the 05 are from Missoula and the 60, 62 and 66 are from our local aviation company.

So glad you made it home safely. I think fires are about the scariest things. Those folks fighting them are so brave.
I hope all remains quiet. We were ten miles from the Yarnell fires and that was as close as I ever want to be!
So much stress and worry when it comes to fires. I hope they get things under control soon.
Happy homecoming! It must feel wonderful to be back.
Fires (even reading about them) make my tummy queasy. Hope they are able to contain that big one that caused your detour on the trip home.
Yes, let's hope that the tanker planes remain grounded. The sight of smoke billowing above a hill is such a scary thing. Sending thoughts of gentle rains with no lightning your way.
Hope you don't have any fires!
Our summer has been almost all rain. Nice and sunny this morning, I think we are having our first dry weekend since mid may. I may have to water plants now.
