Our first practice round was last weekend. We attached the camera to a post that is part of the support on our back deck. We turned it on at dark. All we had to do was wait until morning to see what we got.
We know the deer come in to nibble but don't often see them. But we did catch them on the camera. It is really nice that the camera puts time, date and temperature on every shot. It shoots in the dark, too, and can also be set to a video mode.
Now we have proof of who is eating our day lilies that are in pots near the pond. Day lilies are deer resistant - which means sometimes deer will eat them. Here they eat them all the time! We will either have to relocate them or start spraying them with Liquid Fence.
We have a good chance of lightning tonight and tomorrow night. I wonder if the trail camera would pick up the strikes? Could be fun to try - or not... I just hope that we never catch shots of uninvited two legged critters prowling around here.
Mostly the camera will be a great tool to have at elk camp. It will be like having another person sitting and watching a trail for signs of elk coming through. I am sure it will be my chore to check the camera each day and download the pictures from the SD card. That means hiking to the site with my ten pound lap top on my back. Maybe I will opt to stay home this year...

What fun. I've been wanting one forever.....
We did get a security camera for inside the house that is motion activated. Worked great ---I saw EXACTLY who was sneaking the walnuts out of the pantry at night
(Yea, hubby. But, I already knew that!)
:D
Very cool! And what great shots it takes. Excellent investment I'd say.
This looks like so much fun! It does take great shots!!! I think i would love to be a super-spy!!!!
OK, I'm going for it! I've watched these slowly coming down in price, but these pictures are PRICELESS! Thanks for sharing.
May be a good time to lobby for something light and portable for the downloads. - Margy
That is very cool. And around here unless you are willing to spray your day lily flowers the deer will eat all of them. Not the leaves, just the flowers. Grrrrrrrr.
funny.. I have a bunch of new spider pix too. :)
