One, two, three, four....

Tuesday Morning

Wednesday Morning

Thursday Morning

Friday Morning

This is the nest of a house finch.  She decided to camp out in a shrub by our front door, right beside the walkway.  Her eggs are quite tiny and were identified for me by Larry Jordan at http://www.thebirdersreport.com/
It should be lots of fun to watch her raise her family over the next month.  I wonder if she will lay one more egg tomorrow...

Now those the most amazing pictures ever! Love it! I can't wait to see them hatching. Do you have to get close to them to take the pic or is it easy to get to? I know you said it was along your walkway.

And how beautiful is that nest? It's like a perfect little round bowl. So cool!

They are lovely. Maybe I can save you an unpleasantness we endured last summer. We had a nest right outside a window. We enjoyed watching the activity. Then the birds fledged and the trouble began. They left behind a nest filled with mites looking for a meal. The mites were carried in on the breeze through our window screen. Much itching, disinfecting, scrubbing, vacuuming, and nearly despairing later, we were finally rid of them. So I learned, enjoy them but don't let their pests become your own. I'm just sharing because I wish someone had warned me.

How cool, but what does Chucky think about it? - Margy

Very cool!! I shoo'd a carolina wren nest out of my clothespin basket on the porch yesterday. Second time she put one there. Nesting inside a screen porch is a bad idea, but I do leave the side door open a lot for the dogs to go out, so I can understand it. Stop by and see the lastest little person to hatch out in Pokeberry. :)
