“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.” -

Around the garden today -

The weather is finally acting a bit better around here and there is hope for all the high desert gardeners. Some friends that took a chance and started their vegetable gardens earlier have lost plants to frost. We can get a killing frost anytime here but we all like to take the gamble now and then with the dream of producing the first tomato!

This rhododendron (roseum elegans) was new to our garden last year and is ready to bloom here for the first time.

Of course, the chives are usually the first to flower. Normally I don't let them so they keep producing. But I was so starved for garden color that I decided to leave them alone for the first round of flowering. They help attract the bees and butterflies which aid in pollination.

The delphinium is ripe with buds and a very stalwart garden denizen that is early to bloom.

This little lovely is a Coral Nymph salvia. It is an annual in our climate and a favorite purchase to add to the pots on our deck. The hummingbirds love this plant and we love the hummingbirds so it is a must have plant around here.

How does your garden grow and what is your favorite garden plant?

Two days of spring weather seems like all Mother Nature could produce. Clouds and rain again, but at least my unattended garden is getting a watering. Nice blooms in spite of the weird spring. - Margy

Everything looks lovely. It is still raining like crazy here, but I know it will stop soon and things will start blooming.
