Relocations -

It has been really busy around here lately. We have had lots of visitors at Tramp's Camp. My mom and my nephew came last weekend. He will be heading off to Tennessee to college in August and wanted to visit us one last time before he leaves. Needless to say, we are sad that he will be going so far away... But we are already planning a trip to Nashville to visit him.

Yes, we think he is pretty special!

Nephew and Mom left on Monday. On Tuesday two of Mom's sisters and their husbands and one very sweet dog named Nacho arrived. (And they brought fresh beet greens and beets, blueberries and swiss chard - yum!) On Wednesday two second cousins and three of their friends dropped by. Yesterday a niece, her husband and three children hit town. Funny how we can literally go years with no one coming out our way and then boom, here they all come, all in the same week.

One visitor arrived that was not welcome here. Although incredibly cute and entertaining, we simply can't have another round with the chipmunks. Two years ago we had one visit - we thought it was so fun to watch it race around - but then there were two and soon there were five. They got into our walls and nested in the attic. We had to trap them and help them find a new place to live. So yesterday when I was out in the garden and saw the cute little "timber tiger", as Tramp 1 refers to them, I enjoyed watching his/her antics for a few minutes and then I got the Havahart traps and set them in the garden. Within a couple of hours I had the rascal.

Isn't he/she cute? But so much cuter somewhere else. So I took the little critter for what was probably it's first ever car ride. I released it out in the countryside in the BLM land where it can have a wonderful life - away from here!

The next relocation will probably be whatever bug is starting to dine on Tramp 1's heirloom tomato leaves. Tonight we will be in the garden with our flashlights checking all our plants for the bugs that only come after dark...

It's very hard to watch them go off to college but the upside is that you now have a perfectly wonderful excuse to visit Nashville and see Elvis's home... if you haven't already... as with other woodland creatures, chipmunks are adorable only in cartoons and I praise you for redistributing their charm...
