This platter consists of everything deep-fried. Onion rings, fries, calamari, shrimp, clams, oysters, halibut and cod. Nothing healthy with this meal - just pure unadulterated gluttony, for which we paid dearly. By the time we left the restaurant, it was after 8:00 P.M. and within 1/2 an hour, we were both saying "why did we do that"!! It just isn't getting through to us that we have aging internal organs that don't like to eat that way, even if our mouths do! The latent after affects were reminiscent to that of a colonoscopy prep! It will be a long time before we do that again!!
Now, back to my dental surgery... This has been an ongoing saga that some of you will remember from last year. The Endodontist said that this was the next step - approximately 5% of all root canals require this surgery, which consists of cutting in through the gum above the tooth to reach the roots. Good thing - they give you a powerful sleeping pill and you don't really remember much of the 2+ hours - until Tramp 1 tells you about it... Bad thing - you have a mouth full of stitches and feel like someone punched you in the side of your face.
This particular Dr. has a very droll personality and it has been my personal challenge to get him to laugh a bit at every visit. This time I had inside information (from another dentist) that he had started a vineyard and was planning to make wine. So I just had to wear my special new shoes for the first time. Unfortunately, I was so drugged that I don't remember his response!

Love the shoes but ouch for the tooth. Hope all goes well.
I do not envy you the dental work, but I do envy the beautiful surroundings... pictures are very peaceful, too... but, the shoes take the cake... lovely... fantastic... come visit when you can think about food (not that fried stuff, either, my tummy rebelled years ago)...

Yuk... It would take more than pretty walls to attract me to that office. Hope you feel well soon.

Must be a sign of the times - first goes the gustatory feasts, then the teeth, then the ... oh, you know what I mean (just kidding!). Last September I broke a tooth off at the gum line. Fortunately it didn't hurt, the nerve was already dead. After a month I got in to see the dentist. Of course, it happened chewing a jaw breaker (no kidding) at the cabin and we weren't scheduled to return to the States for a month. The dentist said I was a good candidate for a dental implant. I figured that was better than destroying two more teeth to put in a crown. But it took until January to get through all the steps. In the meantime I did all my eating on the left side of my mouth. Now it has become a habit, at least until I have a new problem and have to switch sides again. Hope your recovery goes well. - Margy
