When it snows like this, I just want to hunker down and enjoy it. It makes me want to cook. And I needed to make some stock. Last night while we were in town at Wal-Mart, they announced that their rotisserie chickens were half price. They do that most every night around 6:00 p.m. if they have quite a few left. Around here, that means that they were only $2.50 each. That is a "buy" price for me. I was at the absolute wrong end of the store but made it to the deli in plenty of time. We brought them home and ate part of one for dinner - so decadent for us! Then I picked the meat off the bones to use for other meals. Now I have the bones and skin along with onion, celery, bay leaves, carrots, water and spices in a pot simmering away on our old wood cook stove. It smells so darned good and some nice heat is being spread around the house along with the delectable aroma. Too bad we aren't going to be eating any of it tonight... Instead, Tramp 1 is making something special from his new cookbook - My Bread.

Now about football... I am sure that many of you are watching the games today. Tramp 1 needed to go to the office today and work. So after his 50 mile round trip drive in the nasty weather, I decided he needed a treat. He has been wanting to be over in the shop working on sorting and organizing. But I knew he would want to see the second game, too. So I was able to get a TV set up over there with an amplifier and rabbit ears and it is pulling in enough of a signal that he can see and hear the game. He is a happy man! I also took him a nice hot toddy and the pellet stove has been going for several hours so he should be warm enough. A man, in his man cave... Maybe he can watch the Superbowl over there, too!

Your place sounds just like mine. Nothing beats a pot of stock simmering on the stove. I wish more people would realize that it's the simplest things that make for a pleasant life.
Enjoy the snow. And send some this way, will you??
Have a great week!
Sue
Thanks SO much for leaving a comment on my blog, so I could find yours. Love this lifestyle of yours. We have so many common interests! Thanks again.
How nice of you to do that for him, he's a lucky guy!
You have some very yummy recipes and lots of interesting things on your blog.
Thanks for stopping by at my blog.
Have a wonderful day!
Sue,
Not enough snow here to share... The wind blew all night and I fear it might all be gone - I haven't looked out yet! It is pitch black and I can still hear the wind howling.
Jayme and Anke,
Welcome to Tramp's Camp and thank you for visiting us. Isn't it a great big blogging world out there with so many interesting folks to meet?!
Oh I wish I could put my guys in a man cave someplace for the games! You should hear them! Especially this year--they are Packer fans. #4 in the playoffs and one interception from the superbowl --as a VIKING-- made the earth quake around here. ;)
Mary,
I was thinking of you when I set up that TV. I remember you mentioning about a certain player that sets your menfolk off! It took us a few years before we were able to build that shop - you will get there, too, and they will have their man cave to go to!
