Swine flu hullabaloo....

I don't usually post about things like this. But this time I just feel I have to. The entire world is watching the ever shifting march of the swine flu. Every country is reacting in their own manner and accord. What do I see here in the U.S.? Many contradictions, too many.... The most blatant to me is the school closures versus air travel. Tramp 1 has to travel for business and living where we do, he generally ends up on a couple of flights to get anywhere. So that puts him in multiple airports and on two or more planes. Think about it - schools are being shut down if just one student is being tested for swine flu. The news has been showing video of entire schools being disinfected. Yes, I know that kids are traveling pits of pestilence.... But consider this - one big plane can have over 300 people on it and it is makes several flights a day. Without taking into consideration the Joe Biden theory on sneeze propulsion, just consider where swine flu could park itself in a plane. With all the baggage rules now, more people are bringing copious quantities of carry on - more germy bag handles, no hands to cover sneezes or coughs as they bump their way past you in the aisle. And there are those passengers that seem to count the seats as they pass by, grasping the top of every seat back. And think about the arm rests - who knows who sat in your seat last and what they might have been doing.... Not to mention to bathrooms.... so small that you can't help but touch surfaces you would rather not. With all this to ponder, have any of you seen any video showing the planes being disinfected? Or the airports? I sure haven't.

So there you have it. I am done and I think I feel better for having blurted out my thoughts. And I can't wait for the sales on pork - since we love to BBQ, bring on the ribs, the pork shoulder and the pork butt.... Hog heaven at Tramp's Camp this summer!!!

One note - a news person local to Oregon announced yesterday morning that the swine flu thing seems a bit more serious when it is a member of your own family that may be exposed - he is waiting for the tests to come back on a family member.

According to the CDC over 100 people in the USA die from the flu, about 36,000 every year. My guess is that the MSM needs a story to sensationalize for viewership. There are those that might see a more sinister motive being played out to further some agenda. So far my tin foil hat is holding up...

I'm a bit bewildered by it too. If its 'that bad' you would think closing borders and airports would have been #1. It looks kind of to me like containing the flu is not the real concern. It almost seems to me as if this were a practice run for some future totalitarian weirdness. But then I tend to be a tad on the paranoid side lately when it comes to our loss of liberty, it seems its just really snowballing. I don't think you're at all out of line--of course you need to take my opinion with a grain of salt. ;)
