Oh, Mother Nature, how you toy with me...
Between you and Father Time, I feel I barely have a
chance here!
I promise you that it is not a pretty picture to see me out in my nightgown chasing
rabbits out of the garden in the wee hours of the morning.
That is, what bit of garden you have left for us...
You beat us with hail, whipped us with wind, annihilated us with horn worms.
And now you are yet again baking us with sun.
90 degrees in mid September?
Yes, it is a love hate relationship you and I have.
You beat my bean plants down with hail
and now you give me the heat to bring them back.
And I know full well that in a couple of weeks you will feel very chilly towards me again.
You will sneak in one night with your killing frost.
Why can't we get along together?
How about you sharing a nice Indian summer in November?
Then in December you can rant and carry on until, say, March.
Would that work okay for you?
You know where to find me....
And by the way, you look very fetching today, Mother Nature...
(Don't tell Mother Nature - this is our first ever kohlrabi harvest.
It was hidden away from her in a hoop house)

Old Ma Nature certainly has a wicked sense of humor.
Glad you got some kohlrabi. Maybe that's the trick---HIDE STUFF!!!
:)
Mother Nature has been one mean lady this year. I hope this foul mood of hers is over soon. It has been 100 degrees here the past 4 days and I am sick of it. These changing weather patterns are scary.
Your kohlrabi looks good! My favorite part is the leaves sauteed!!! Delicious!!!
We got our first relief this past weekend and I savored every minute of it. Even my 14 y/o said that he is ready for late fall weather. Hope you have gotten a break by now!
A lovely ode to Mother Nature! I think this past gardening season has left a lot of us shaking our heads and wondering why we keep trying.
Congrats on your first kohlrabi. We eat them raw like apples!
