Earlier this month we visited Newport, located on Oregon's central coast. Rogue's Brewer's on the Bay is a favorite place to stop when we are in the area. It can be found on the south side of Yaquina bay.
You enter by following this pathway that winds through the brewing vats.
Then you head for the white door and follow the stairs up to the bar and dining area on the upper floor.
We like to sit at these bar stools that look out a window facing the bay.
When you get settled, they bring you a sample taste to enjoy while you read the menu and decide what to drink and eat.
We munched on a platter of calamari while sipping our brews.
I had what they call a Snickers - they mix Hazelnut Brown Nectar with Double Chocolate Stout. Ummm, it was so good - I am finding that I like beer more than I realized!!
They offer growlers for sale that you can have filled while you are there. Yes, we purchased a growler of Snickers to enjoy later. If you haven't tried them yet, look for Rogue Ales next time you are out shopping. And think of the beautiful Oregon coast - home to some really good brew!

Interesting. We haven't made it to Newport. Need to put that one our list, however, that won't make it happen. Bob does not travel anymore.
OK, now this looks like the kind of place that I love to visit -- great view, delicious food and a fabulous brew to wash it down with. A trifecta!!!
What a neat place overlooking the water! I LOVE chocolate Stout. One year Samual Adams had a chocolate ale in a bottle shaped like a wine bottle. I bought it for a friend for Christmas and we shared it one day. It was so good, and Sam Adams has never made it again!!! So we drink Young's Chocolate Stout (I think that is the name). Rarely, but a real treat when we do!!! This mix you got sounds even better!!!
My husband loves specialty beers so would have gladly accompanied you on this little jaunt. Heck, I'd have gladly gone along, too. (Too bad we're half a country away!)
