We all know that having a pet is a commitment. You have to be there to feed them, train them and be a companion for them. And what we receive in return truly has no monetary value - unconditional love, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Yes, there are those surprise trips to the emergency clinic at night for cheat grass in an ear. And the rare leg injury that requires x-rays, medications and round the clock supervision. There are even a few expenses for chewed up items like Birkenstock garden clogs. But that just wasn't enough for our Chucky dog. He had to have more....

This is Chucky's new Ford Ranger in front of my Mom's house in November when I picked it up from the Ford dealer there. With Chucky being so big, my little Suzuki Sidekick didn't quite do for traveling. Our Ford crew cab is too big to take everywhere and our Toyota truck has close to 400,000 miles on it. So Chucky needed a new truck and this is the last of the Ford Rangers - the end of long run of very reliable trucks.

While I was away picking up Chucky's truck, Tramp 1 was busy with landscapers that were putting in Chucky's yard. He now has his own lawn between the house and the shop. Originally that area was going to be planted with trees.

Last week just before we left for Washington for Christmas we got Chucky's new canopy put on his truck. Now he has a great place to ride and we are not coated in a swirl of yellow dog hair!
In 2012 we are going to take away Chucky's credit cards and check book!!!

So that explains the increase in spending that boosted our economy last year! Good dog!!
Poor you!
:)
lol...I know the feeling. Mollie has a budget and a new truck was not in it this year! I have a 2004 Ford Ranger..it is still like new..I love it! Don't know why they are going to quit making them...except I always thought they should have done a double cab...xoxo
That is one lucky dog! Nothing like the love of a dog. I've done similar things myself for my dogs and never regretted it once. At least Chucky lets you do the driving in his truck:)
No Mom! Not the credit cards!!!
Poor, poor Chucky.
I've been thinking about buying a pickup because of all the gravel roads out here. Only problem is I have no money. Ha.
Good for Chucky - I see he has both of you well trained! Bro is like that with John, but if there isn't room in the cab he isn't the one to get in back. We regularly have three humans and Bro all up front. Not too bad in the warm weather, but when it rains or he has been playing with frogs, it can get a bit drippy for the two passengers. No matter, we love Bro. - Margy
Make sure you restrict his computer use as well. I'm sure our cats have been placing surreptitious catnip orders online.

I think it might be time for Chucky to go off to college get a degree and start paying his own way.......just kidding we had a St Bernard,a Samoyed and an English Sheep dog.My husbands health keeps him from walking a dog and I hover around 100lbs so we are now cat people.....sigh
While we haven't had to buy a new vehicle for the dogs, we have spent a lot of money on surgeries this year. I thought 2012 would be different, but Sadie is having eye surgery on Tuesday - it never ends.
