“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.” -

Followed by a hacker...

Today while Tramp 1 was at the office working, again... I went to town to go grocery shopping. The crowds were much lighter than they were three weeks ago when I last shopped. (The bargains were fewer as well.) My final stop of the day was my favorite store - Grocery Outlet. I don't waste time going through the whole store, I hit certain areas and then get out of there. I had just started to shop and was perusing the yogurt when deep in the recesses of my mind I heard a cough. I was instantly ready to cut and run - I could just visualize the spray pattern of germs and viruses spewing forth! But I kept looking at the various food items in the cold case and I heard the cough again. When I glanced to my right I saw a young man probably in his mid to late twenties standing in front of the milk case with the door open as he was peering in and he was hacking away without anything in front of his mouth, not his hand, a kleenex or anything! I quickly pulled my cart to my left to get farther away from him while thinking of all matter of things he had contaminated the milk cartons with! When I looked up again, there he was with his girlfriend standing right next to me and he coughs again, still not covering his mouth. I hold my breath, grab my cart and quickly skirt by them to put some distance between myself and his bad manners. This went on over and over - whatever part of the store I headed to, they seemed to follow. And I like to shop in certain rows going a certain direction with my cart. (Yes, I know...) I had to deviate from my pattern and go the wrong way on the wrong row. I still didn't make it far enough away - they just kept showing up. I finally headed back all the way across the store to wait for them to finish. And I could hear him coughing and hacking his way to the register and out the door in time. I could then breathe a sigh of relief and garner the hope that whatever he had that he was so willing share is something that I have already had! But I probably brought home more than just groceries!

Hand sanitizer is your friend lol!!
As a nurse all I can say is shame on the guy for being so incredibly rude but the good news is our bodies to build up resistance to things we are casually exposed to if we are healthy in the first place. This is why I like to live in the boonies and hate to go shopping, even though I work with sick people every day at least I know what I am exposing myself to at work.

Oh Lordy...that is terrible. I can't believe someone could be so thoughtless. I cringe everytime I have to touch a cart....and you having to go 'against' your pattern in the store! I'd be all discombobulated. I bought these essential oils that the herbalist told me to sniff occasionally, especially if I was around someone sick. It's a blend called 'Thieves'.

wow... when I first read the title I thought you meant a stalker who found you online or something.. freaked me out a little. ;)

You are so right--we hackers should stay home or at least use our sleeves. ;-)

Last October when I had the flu I tried to stay indoors as long as possible. Because all three of us (Wayne, myself and my mom) were sick I finally had to go out and buy groceries. I felt like I was carrying the plague and got in and out of the store as fast as possible. When I saw people I know I backed away and told them to stay back (no hugs or handshakes for sure). I hope you made it through OK and didn't get any bargains you weren't counting on. - Margy
