Catching up at Tramp's Camp

It is a breezy spring afternoon here, after a very weather filled day yesterday when we had snow, hail and more snow. It is supposed to be in the 70's by the weekend but it was 16 degrees yesterday morning. You know, things would be pretty boring without weather!

We had company over the weekend and the fellows were able to get started on our kayak. We had just gotten the pellet stove installed in the shop when the dog became ill and so much has been on hold here. Hopefully we will continue the progress now that we have the heat necessary to cure the glues, etc. We will be posting pictures as soon as there are any that look like something!

With the extra people available we also got the kennel moved out of the garage. It was so hard to see it gone and think that our dear old Angus is gone, too. He is still with us though, in a small oak box. If we were wealthy, I think we would have had him cloned!! It would have been interesting to raise him again and see what we could do to change some of the outcomes in his life. (Definitely no cheat grass - he ate a mess of it and had emergency surgery for it two days before we were leaving on vacation in 2007!)

And of course, in the tradition of Tramp's Camp, we did dutch oven cooking outside. And we made a mess of ribs in our Traeger pellet smoker. We love to cook outside!

Lastly, the root canal thing has escalated for me and today I started physical therapy for TMJ and neck issues. The Dr. can't replace the crown until it all settles down, pain wise. No wonder I have dental fears!!

Time for a last cup of coffee - I need an afternoon boost - I am going to bundle up, go outside and read a chapter in Jane Kirkpatrick's book, Homestead. I read it years ago and it is worth reading again - the sign of a good book.

I've been up at the cabin for a while so I'm getting caught up on some of my reading. I am sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved Angus. I know how much our animal companions mean to us. I've had several root canals and they have been pretty difficult, but your's sounds much worse. Hope you feel better soon. - Margy

I will see if I can find that book today at work. I could use a good read.

Margy,
Thanks for your kind thoughts. We sure miss Angus.
The root canal seems to be getting less feeling - seems to me that it should not feel at all! Eating on one side for months most likely caused the TMJ thing...

Mary,
Hope you found the book. Jane Kirkpatrick writes fiction, too. Her homestead is north of where we are.
