Old Dog, New Tricks
Yesterday I pulled a frozen turkey out of the freezer and put it on the floor by the door in the garage that enters the house. It was hard as a rock and I thought I would just let it sit there awhile before putting it in the garage fridge. Just a bit later, I went out and found Angus had dragged that turkey across the garage and managed to chew off the plastic netting and had also torn off a lot of the plastic wrapping. He managed to chisel off some of the skin, a portion of the breast and some of the paper bag with the giblets, too!! What a dog.... I brought it in and sawed away all the chewed part, washed it up well and put it in a bowl and covered it. I took it out to the garage fridge and had to pull out a bag of turnips and rutabagas to make room for the turkey. The phone rang and I dropped the bag of veggies into a box with kindling and ran for the phone. When I came back out, he had gotten into that bag and was working on a turnip! There was turnip all over the place and he wasn't about to give it up. He had gotten it down to a piece the size of somewhere between a golf ball and a tennis ball. I tried to get it away from him but he wasn't going to share.... That turnip had blood on it from his teeth - he probably cut himself on the plastic from the turkey. I was finally able to get him to drop the turnip for some biscuits. What a dog!! Sure hope he doesn't get sick!!!! An amazing old guy - 15 years old and still acting like a puppy.... a bad puppy!
